Fourteen soldiers including a Captain who were killed by the Boko Haram terrorist group were on Friday buried at the Commonwealth Military Cementery in Kaduna by the Nigerian Army.
The heros who gave their lives for the nation while fighting the enemies of the state were reportedly ambushed and killed by the terrorists along Damaturu-Maiduguri road on December 14, 2018, while on their way to Kaduna from Maiduguri.
Maj. Gen. Mohammed Mohammed, the General Officer Commanding One Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna, at the burial said that the soldiers paid the ultimate sacrifice in defence of their fatherland, ading that they did not die in vain and would consequently be remembered as “brave soldiers”.
“We will remember them forever as the brave soldiers,” Maj. Gen. Mohammed said.
“I want to assure you of the unwavering support of the Chief of Army Staff and the leadership of our dear nation in ensuring that you are provided with the necessary equipment as well as adequate welfare to carry out your duty effectively and efficiently,” he added.
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) also donated N500,000 each to the families of the slain soldiers.
