Over 200 Boko Haram fighters on motorbikes stormed Nigerian army battalion kills 5 soldiers, injured 11 others and stole arms and ammunitions

Boko Haram terrorist group in two separate attacks carried out in 3 days against an army battalion fighting the insurgents allegedly killed about eight (8) soldiers and wounded about 11 others.

According to reports, the army formations attacked by the sect also lost several arms and ammunition and are calling for urgent restocking of their armouries, Premium Times reports.

The first attack was on troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base in Sabon Gari, Borno State. Report stated that over 200 Boko Haram terrorist on motorbikes stormed the base around 6pm on Monday.

The terrorists had five gun trucks on which twin barrel artillery guns were mounted.

After about 1 hour gallant fight by the Nigerian troops, they were unfortunately dislodged from the base, killing five soldiers and injuring nine others and four other soldiers still missing.

According to Premium Times, after the troops retreated from their base, they immediately reinforced with troops from the 25 Brigade and returned to the location in several armoured cars and buses.

The counterattack was successful but the army however lost several arms and ammunition.

Some of the weapons stolen by the insurgents included, three Steyr Armoured Personnel Carriers, one gun truck mounted with anti-aircraft ammunition, 9 self-propelled guns, 16 AK47 rifles, one HF radio, two rocket-propelled grenades, two 60MM mortals and other ammunitions and drugs in the base.

About two days later, which was on Thursday 19 April, around 8:45am, troops of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion while on administrative patrol long the Ngoshe-Bokkotinta-Pulka axis ran into an IED ambush laid by the Boko Haram terrorists, killing 3 soldiers with 2 others wounded.

The troop also lost a gun truck, one mine lab detector device and four AK47 rifles.

According to source that confided in PT, a large number of terrorist were killed in the two incidents while several others however escaped with gunshot wounds.

These attacks show that the Boko Haram terrorist are obviously out of ammunitions and are apparently trying to reinforce their armories.
