Jimi Agbaje, the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, has described Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governorship Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as a puppet.
The PDP Lagos candidate described the APC candidate as “a proxy candidate, a puppet, fronting for well-entrenched interests that have held back the development of the state for the past 20 years.”
No doubt Agbaje is referring to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State, who is currently the National Leader of the ruling APC.
Tinubu is believed to be in-charge of Lagos State. Rumour has it that he decides who becomes governor and how things works in the state.
Agbaje who said that Sanwo-Olu is incapable of making his own decision, was apparently responding to a statement by the APC candidate during a campaign rally.
Mr. Sanwo-Olu had at the rally on the Lagos Island on Tuesday stated that Agbaje lacks clear ideas on how to manage Lagos State.
However, Agbaje described Sanwo-Olu as a man without any specialty. He further urged the people of Lagos to reject him and the APC, a party he described as a leopard that could not change its tendency to inflict misery and suffering on the masses.
“This is a man without any specialty, tossed from one ministry to another before ending up in the housing corporation, where his tenure in that agency has added nothing towards improving the state’s world-acclaimed housing deficit.”
Agbaje also dismissed the statement by the APC candidate who told supporters that the state had in 20 years recorded giant strides which is could be reversed should Agbaje become governor.
Sanwo-Olu “is not a standalone candidate, but a proxy who is only being propped up by some godfathers whose prime interest and motives are to further plunder the resources of the state,” Agbaje said.
