The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in its reaction to the resignation of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the party, said that his exit was due to his personal political interest which the APC understands.
“The former vice president found that his interests would be better served elsewhere and he decided based on that,” APC spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi said
Atiku was Nigeria’s Vice President from 1999 – 2007, said that the party has failed Nigerians. According to him, he and others who joined the APC were eager to make positive change for Nigeria, but however fell for a mirage
Although Atiku has not stated which party he’ll join, but the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is apparently the next available option for him.
The APC however lamented that it has loss one of its most formidable political heavyweights.
“No party would be happy to see its leaders depart, but politics is all about interest,” Mr. Abdullahi said.
“While it is true that we’ve lost some politicians, we’ve also been having incomers.”
“But it would help us to look internally and address areas that require attention,” he added
