In a military raid carried out by the Nigerian Army in four (4) cultist’s camps in Uju community, located in Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, an AK-47 and uniforms belonging to DSP Mohammed Alkali and his orderly who was beheaded during the Rivers Re-run elections were recovered.
According to Maj. Gen. Kasimu Abdulkarim, Commander Officer 6 Division of the Army, in Port Harcourt, he said that the operation was conducted in weekend in conjunction with men of the 6 Division and the Special Boat Services/Air Component of Operation Delta Safe.
Gen. Abdulkarim said that some of the cultist may have died because they jumped into the river during the operation while nine others were arrested.
Weapons recovered includes, “one AK-47 rifle, two G3 rifles, five double-barrelled guns, two pistols, 31 empty AK-47 magazines, 242 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 322 rounds of other ammunition.”
He noted that DSP Alkali is one of the 15 persons killed in the community by cultists in the past one month adding that clean-up operation will continue in the local government to flush out all of them.
