Atiku ask tribunal to order INEC to release presidential election materials for inspection

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday filed an application seeking an order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to release presidential election materials used on February 23 for inspection.

Atiku filed the application through his lawyer, Chief Chris Uche (SAN), before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

The PDP Presidential Candidate who had since rejected the result of the presidential election is seeking the tribunal’s order to inspect the Voter Register, the Smart Card Reader Machines, ballot papers and others materials used for the presidential poll.

Atiku’s lawyers want the tribunal to order INEC to allow them scan and make photocopies of vital documents used in the conduct of the election.
