Buhari travels to London this night for medical follow-up

President Muhammadu Buhari this evening traveled to London, United Kingdom for medical follow-up.

When Buhari returned from a 50 days medical leave in March, he said that he would return to London again for a follow-up.

The length of Buhari’s stay this time would be however determined by his doctors when he gets to London.

Mr. President had already written the leadership of the National Assembly to notify the nation of his absent.

According to the statement from the presidency issued by Femi Adesina, President Buhari’s media aide, Buhari was suppose to leave on Sunday afternoon, but he decided to wait longer so that he would receive the 82 Chibok girls who just regained their freedom from Boko Haram.

“The President wishes to assure all Nigerians that there is no cause for worry. He is very grateful for the prayers and good wishes of the people, and hopes they would continue to pray for the peace and unity of the nation,” Mr. Adesina said.

“The length of the President’s stay in London will be determined by the doctors. Government will continue to function normally under the able leadership of the Vice President. He added

“President Buhari has transmitted letters about the trip to the Senate and the House of Representatives, in compliance with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution,” the statement said.
