Mrs. Patience Jonathan, the wife of Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, was on Monday sighted at the Maitama branch of Skye Bank in Abuja.
On Thursday last week, a Federal High Court in Lagos ordered the unfreezing of her account containing about $5.8million.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) suspecting that the $5.8million in the account was proceeds of crime had requested a freezing order sometime last year.
The former first lady reportedly met with an Executive Director of the bank yesterday. She allegedly arrived the bank around 10am and left just few minutes past 4pm.
Her solicitor, Charles Ogboli, however stated that the reason for the delay was normal bank protocols and nothing else.
He added that the court orders had been obeyed by the bank to the letters.
“We visited the bank as the order of court was given and the order of the court has been obeyed to the letter,” he said
Unconfirmed report said that she wanted to withdraw as much as a million dollar from the account on Friday, but was however given $100,000 because the bank didn’t have up to that amount.
