Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of Dangote Group, who is the current richest man in Africa, is setting up a $100million vehicle assembly plant in Lagos.
The plant will help assembly trucks which he uses for distribution of various dangote products nationwide and even internationally.
Confirming the development, Mr. Anthony Chiejina, the Chief Corporate Communication Officer of Dangote Group, said that the company would partner with a Chinese truck manufacturing company, (National Heavy Duty Truck Group Company Limited) to assemble thousands of trucks in Nigeria.
The multi-million dollar company which is 60% owned by Dangote and 40% owned by the Chinese Company, SINOTRUK, is expected to produce about 10,000 trucks yearly.
According to Chiejina, the project would be fully operational soon and there would be room for expansion also in the nearest future to meet the nation’s truck demand with the possibility of exporting to neighbouring countries.
