Yesterday we published a report regarding the remanding of a former governor of Adamawa State, Mr. Bala Ngilari, in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The former governor was remanded in the anti-graft custody by Justice Nathan Musa of the Federal High Court sitting in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State for an alleged N167 million contract fraud to supply about 25 units of Toyota Corolla.
Mr. Ngilari was however granted bail eventually in the sum of N100 million with a surety who must have a landed property in Yola.
The governor along with his Ibrahim Welye, the Secretary to the State Government and Sanda Jonathan Lamurde, the former Commissioner of Finance and Budget, during his administration were arraigned before the court on a 17 count charge of conspiracy and unlawful processing of contract.
According to the EFCC, the offence contravened Section 96 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 97 of the Penal Code.
