Mr. Andrew Yakubu, the former Group Managing Director of the NNPC, has sued the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for violation of his fundamental rights.

The former NNPC boss also wants the court to award him N1billion against the EFCC and the Attorney General of the Federation as damages.

Few weeks ago, particularly on February 3, 2017, the EFCC raided the ex-NNPC boss home in Kaduna and seized about $10million found at his house.

Mr. Yakubu reported to the office of the EFCC on February 8, 2017 and admitted that the cash found at the house were his.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja fixed March 9 for hearing on the suit.

According to the suit, Mr. Yakubu, wants the defendants (EFCC and AGF) to tender public apology in two national dailies for violation of his rights.
