Ex-President Yahya Jammeh of Gambia allegedly stole $11million from country’s coffers, including luxury cars he shipped abroad

Ex-President Yahya Jammeh of Gambia allegedly stole huge amount of money from the coffers of the country before he fled into exile last Saturday.

This allegation was made by the aide of the new president of Gambia, President Adama Barrow.

According to Mai Fatty, the new Gambian President adviser, he said that the new government had discovered that millions of dollars had recently been stolen.

“The coffers are largely empty,” he said.

“Over two weeks, over 500m dalasi ($11million) were withdrawn” by Jammeh, he alleged.

“As we take over, the government of The Gambia is in financial distress.” He added

He also stated that a Chadian cargo plane had moved some luxury goods, including some number of vehicles.
