Few hours after saying he would not coerce any of his supporters to vote any party, Omisore is now telling his supporters to vote for APC today

Senator Iyiola Omisore, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), on Wednesday, just few hours after telling his supporters to freely exercise their rights and vote for whomever they feel shares the ideology of the SDP, now makes a u-turn and told them to vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in today’s Osun Re-run election.

Omisore came third with 128,049 votes behind Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Mr. Gboyega Oyetola of the ruling APC, who came first and second with 254,698 votes and 254,345 votes respectively.

The person who will become the next governor of Osun State will be however determined after the re-run election between the APC and PDP candidate.

Senate President Bukola Saraki had on behalf of the PDP visited Omisore to seek his support ahead of the Re-run election. The meeting between PDP and Omisore was said to be fruitful until delegates of the APC, first the Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and then the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole and some other APC governors visited Omisore on Wednesday.

Senator Adeleke in his reaction to Omisore’s declaration to support the APC in Thursday’s re-run said that “Omisore was not with us when we won on Saturday. If not for manipulation, we would have won with over 5000 votes.”

The statement was issued by the Director of Publicity of his Campaign Organisation, Olawale Rasheed.

“We believe in the power of the voters. PDP will win because Ademola Adeleke is a popular liberation man. So, whether with the support of Omisore or not, victory is certain because we have started mobilisation since Sunday,” he said (as seen on Premium Times).
