Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerges Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate; to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019

Mr. Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has emerged the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Atiku defeated 11 other aspirants to pick the PDP ticket at the convention held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

He got a total of 1,532 votes; his closest rival was Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State who got 693 votes and Senate President Bukola Saraki came third with 317 votes.
