Gunmen reportedly broke into the residence of Dr. Tavershima Adyorororough, the Principal Special Assistant on Knowledge Economy and Investments, to Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, and killed him.
The gunmen allegedly stormed his residence at Nyinma layout in Makurdi, the State capital, and shot at the man and his wife.
Dr. Adyorororough died, while his wife was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where she is receiving treatment.
Governor Ortom has already ordered the arrest and prosecution of the killers of his aide.
The Benue State Government confirmed the death of the governor’s aide in a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Terver Akase.
The Governor vehemently condemned the killing, saying that it is unacceptable, ordered security agencies to move into action immediately so as to apprehend the perpetrators.
Ortom noted that late Adyorororough was a competent and dependable aide who served with dedication and honesty.
He sympathized with the immediately family of the deceased, the people of the state and vowed that he would support security agencies to arrest the culprits.
Sometimes in 2016 also, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on security matters was murdered at his residence along Mobile Barracks in Makurdi too.
