Governor Oyetola wants Appeal Court to cancel Senator Adeleke’s victory at tribunal

Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State

Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State has appealed against the judgment of the Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which nullified his election and declared Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the governorship election held in September 2018 in the state.

The tribunal had declared Adeleke winner of the poll and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue the PDP candidate a new Certificate of Return.

Governor Oyetola however urged the Court of Appeal to nullify the ruling of the tribunal.

The governor who was the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the poll asked the court through his lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), to cancel the judgment of the tribunal and dismiss the petition of the PDP and Senator Adeleke.
