INEC resumes collation of Rivers Governorship Election results

Collation of Rivers Governorship Election results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday resumed the collation of the suspended Rivers State Governorship election.

Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, the National Commissioner supervising Bayelsa, Edo and Rivers States, announced the resumption of the collation.

“In view of that incident on the March 10 collation, the commission set up a five-man fact-finding committee to verify the nature and obstructive activities that generally attended the election at the collation centre.

“I wish to assure you of our commitment to free and credible process in completing this collation.”

Here are results for two Local Government Areas released so far. The contest appears to be between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Action Congress (AAC).

The Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had declared his support for the candidate of the AAC, following the disqualification of APC by the Supreme Court.
