Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, at the graduation of Cadets of 63rd Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on Thursday, blamed the previous Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration for failing to provide equipments for the military to fight the insurgents.
Osinbajo noted that the billions of dollars meant for the purchase of arms to fight against the Boko Haram terrorists were siphoned by some people.
According to him, the failure led to the death of over 20,000 people, with over 2million displaced and over 75,000 orphans.
“This has left the region with one of the worst humanitarian crisis,” he added.
The Vice President commended the military for their efforts I defeating the Boko Haram.
About the current economic recession, he noted that the fastest way out is to stop the bombing and attack on pipelines in the Niger Delta region.
He noted that the militancy attack on oil facilities have affected the revenue of the country by 60%. Oil production had dropped from 2.2million barrels per day to below 1million barrels daily.
