“Okonjo-Iweala begged me not to say Nigeria was broke –Amaechi”
In a recent interview on the Osasu Show with the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi; he (Amaechi) said that the country was already on recession since the past administration of Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
He noted that Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who was the Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy pleaded with him not to let Nigerians know that the country was broke because it will drive away investors. Claiming that the current Buhari’s administration is open and transparent that’s why it admitted that the country is on recession unlike the past Goodluck Jonathan’s administration that concealed and hid the truth.
“If you remember as governor, I said we were broke. The minister of finance came to my office in Abuja and pleaded with me that I shouldn’t say it again. That if I said it, it would affect Nigeria in terms of investment; that investors will run away. That I shouldn’t say we are broke. I should say we are cash-strapped. That was what Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala told me. He said.

“FG Ends 8 Years Dormancy, Takes Over Ajaokuta Steel Complex”

A step which since 2008 has proven abortive as the FG has made several efforts to settle with Global Steel Holdings Ltd, to enable government takeover the steel complex and invest funds for its revival.
With this agreement, Ajaokuta will soon begin operations and this will really go a long way in creating jobs for our unemployed youths.
The agreement however grants GSHL to retain the Nigerian Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO) and to have the Ajaokuta Steel Company as its top priority customer for iron ore supply.
