Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State on Monday revealed that his purpose in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was to agitate for free education for all Nigerians.
According to him, he is going to the senate to promote the cause of ordinary Nigerians.
“I am going to the Senate to promote the cause of ordinary Nigerians. These are some of the things I am going to the Senate to do. Otherwise, I have no business there,” he said when he received the new commander of 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Yusuf Tukur, in his office in Owerri.
He further noted that he was also going to the senate to rebuild the political bridge that links the South-East with the rest of Nigerians.
“I also want to use the opportunity of being in the Senate to rebuild the political bridge that links the South-East with the rest of Nigerians.
“The political bridge is somehow faulty and it is dutifully incumbent on me to rebuild this bridge so that Igbo will play a recognised role in Nigerian politics,” he added.
He said that Imo had remained a peaceful state through the efforts of his government in partnership with security agencies in the state.
The governor further boasted that he was handing over not only a secured state, but a viable state to Emeka Ihedioha.
Okorocha who is a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would be handing over the state to Emeka Ihedioha, the governorship candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general election.
