Niger Delta Militants withdraws October 1 quit notice it had issued to Hausa and Yoruba to leave the oil rich region


On Thursday, the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators who had issued a quit notice ultimatum to the Hausa and Yoruba residing in the Niger Delta region to leave the region before October 1, announced the withdrawal of the quit notice.

The withdrawal notice was issued in a statement signed by 13 militant leaders after reportedly consulting with some stakeholders in the region.

The militants also withdrew its threat to attack oil facilities in the region from September 10.

“After series of meetings yesterday between the high command of the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators led by General John Duku and the leadership of the Nigeria Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders Forum led by the Acting Chairman, Comrade Imoh Okoko, coupled with the intervention of Pan Niger Delta Forum, Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators, at yesterday’s meeting officially withdrew our quit notice issued to northerners and Yoruba living in the Niger Delta region.”
