Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna, a Deputy Police Superintendent, who is the spokesman of the Abia State Police Command, has confirmed the authenticity of a video where suspected kidnappers were shot in their private parts by police operatives.
According to the police, the kidnappers opened fire first at the police officers attached to the Intelligence Response Team, as they attempted to rescue the victim who is reportedly a 76 year old man.
“In the course of the shootout, some of the kidnappers sustained injuries and were overpowered,” Mr. Ogbonna said (As seen on Premium Times).
The DPS noted that the victim eventually died at the hospital following torture by the kidnappers in their den.
AK47 guns, ammunitions and three vehicles were recovered from the suspects during the operation.
