Nigerian Army says that 2 deputy commanders to Boko Haram leader Shekau were killed on Sallah day

Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman

Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, in a statement yesterday, said that two (2) Boko Haram commanders and deputies to their leader, Abubakar Shekau, were killed in a successful military operation at Alafa in Borno State, on Sallah day.

According to the Nigerian Army, the two deputies were, Afdu Kawuri and Abubakar Banishek.

“This is in addition to Ba’Abba Ibrahim and two other Boko Haram commanders that died after sustaining injuries during their last ambush at Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno,” he said.

The Army Spokesman described the recent video released by the leader of the group, Shekau, in which he dared the Nigerian Army as an act of desperation and lies by remnants of the terrorists to instill unnecessary fear on citizens.

“We wish to challenge the so-called terrorist leader to produce the five key commanders earlier killed or the video of those Ameers he claimed not dead and are still with him.

“It is also instructive to note that Shekau is scared and rattled by the 40-day ultimatum issued by the Chief of Army Staff to Operation LAFIYA DOLE to fish him out,” Mr. Usman
