1. President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday wrote to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to approve the reappointment of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
Buhari sought the approval of a second tenure for Emefiele whose current tenure expires on June 2, 2019.
Experts in the banking sector have commended President Buhari over the reappointment of Mr. Emefiele, describing it as a welcome development for the economy.
2. Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State in his reaction to his electoral victory at the Court of Appeal on Thursday said that there is always a limit to which falsehood and propaganda could be used to suppress the will of the people.
The governor noted that the ruling had validated the mandate the people of Osun State had freely given to him in September 2018.
“After months of uncertainty and waiting in judicial wilderness, truth has finally prevailed over falsehood and the voice of the majority has ultimately gained dominance over the phony attempts to manipulate justice,” he said.

3. The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded for the withdrawal of the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, from the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal panel.
The PDP in its petition issued on Thursday noted that Bulkachuwa’s husband, Adamu Bulkachuwa, is an APC senator-elect.
Mr. Adamu won the Bauchi North Senatorial District Election under the platform of the APC.
PDP noted that it would be impossible for her not to have discussed the PDP petition against her husband’s party with her husband. Here’s more reason why PDP is demanding her withdrawal
4.The Special Anti-Robbery Squad under the Imo State Police Command has arrested one Nneka Donatus, a 27-year-old single mother, who sold her child for N600,000.
The police also arrested a level 12 civil servant identified as Ujunwa Udechukwu, who works at the Imo State Ministry of Women Affairs, for conspiring with Nneka to sell her baby to a couple.
Rabiu Ladodo, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, in his statement noted that the command was working hard to end child trafficking. Read more details on Naija Buzz
