1.Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State in an apparent reply to Senator George Akume who accused him of using his office to enriching himself, said that he is in government not to enrich himself, adding that he was already a billionaire before he became governor. “Today, there is one governor in the North-Central Nigeria,who is richer than Buhari and has more money than Buhari in just three-and-a-half years of being a governor,” Akume had stated during President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign rally in Benue State.

2. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during his campaign rally on Thursday in Katsina State, said that late Major General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, the elder brother to late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, had anointed him for the position of Nigeria’s president since 1993. “Late Shehu Yar’Adua had anointed me as Nigeria’s President since 1993. The complex nature of Nigeria’s politics would not make this to become a reality,” Atiku said in Hausa while speaking to the people of Katsina.

3. The Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday arraigned two employees of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Beesor Sorle, 39, and Monday Ifesimama, 52, alongside one Darlington Ogolo, 42, before a Chief Magistrates Court for allegedly stealing over 3,097 Permanent Voter Cards in Rivers State. Ogolo had reportedly paid N300,000 to Sorle for 1,000 PVCs and N120,000 to Darlington to Ifesinamama to fraudulently facilitate the registration of some prospective voters.

4. Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in his response to the death threat statement made by Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, urged the international community to ignore El-Rufai. “We want to call on the international community not to be deterred by El-Rufai’s threat. They should monitor the elections. If anybody rigs, they should sanction Nigeria. They should impose sanctions on El-Rufai,” Wike said.

5. Mr. Jimi Agbaje, the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, has described Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate, as a puppet incapable of making his own decisions. Agbaje described Sanwo-Olu as “a proxy candidate, a puppet, fronting for well-entrenched interests that have held back the development of the state for the past 20 years.” The PDP candidate statement came as an apparent reply to the APC candidate who had in a rally dismissed Agbaje as lacking the required capacity to govern Lagos.
