Good Morning Nigeria! Here are a few of what you need to know this Friday morning????. Enjoy!
1.Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), during the party’s political rally in Benin, Edo State, urged members of the opposition party (apparently referring to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)) to join the APC so that their sins could be forgiven. “We have some PDP defectors. They are, Henry Tenebe, Iluobe….Iluobe means I have done something wrong. Yes, once you join the APC, your sins are forgiven,” he said while receiving the defectors.
2. Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State in a recent statement during a programme on Channels TV, said that even if he picks the pope as his running mate in the next general election, majority of Christians in the state would still not vote for him. “What if I tell you that no matter who I choose as my running mate, even if I choose the Pope, 67 per cent of the Christians in Southern Kaduna have made up their minds that they will never vote for me. This is what the polls show,” El-Rufai said while explaining his choice of Muslim/Muslim ticket. He revealed that even his current deputy, Yusuf Bala Bantex, who is a Christian from Southern Kaduna is being treated like an outcast because he is in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
3. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday confirmed that he arrived in Washington D.C., the capital of the United States of America. “Just arrived in Washington D. C. for a meeting with US government officials, Nigerians living in D.C. metropolis and the business community,” he said on twitter. Atiku after over 12 years restriction from visiting the US, secretly flew out of Nigeria in the early hours of Thursday and landed in the America capital around 8:26pm. The ruling All Progressives Congress led Federal Government had warned the US against giving him a visa.
4. The Governorship and the National Assembly candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers and Zamfara States are not included on the final list of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which was released on Thursday. Also, the Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) were also omitted from the list because of court order which sacked its candidate, Donald Duke, from contesting the election.
5. The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) alleges that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is planning to rig the forthcoming February 16 presidential election. “We want to place Nigerians on notice that they should be at alert and not allow PDP elements at all levels to subvert the will of the electorate,” BMO said, adding that any fear by the opposition that President Muhammadu Buhari was preparing to rig the election was a mere conjecture and completely false.
