Good Morning Nigeria! Here are a few of what you need to know this Sunday morning🙂. Enjoy!
1.The Imo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, following the suspension of Rochas Okorocha and Ibikunle Amosun, the governors of Imo and Ogun States respectively. “I was with the APC chairman from Ogboko ward where the governor hails from. There was no letter from the NWC to him to query the governor for any offence. The truth is that Oshiomhole is a man who has no respect for rule of law. He has penchant for disobeying valid court judgments and orders. We demand his immediate resignation from the APC. Adams Oshiomhole has outlived his usefulness in the APC. As a party we will not honour that purported suspension. It is null and void and of no effect. Governor Rochas Okorocha remains the leader of the APC in Imo State,” Daniel Nwafor, the state APC Chairman, said.
2. The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has noted that it was not true that its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar had made demands on President Muhammadu Buhari when the Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar National Peace Committee met him. The PDP noted that Atiku won the February 23 presidential poll and would never make nor accept any condition from Buhari. “The Buhari presidency and the APC know that their electoral robbery cannot stand before any noble justices and are now attempting to use all sorts of blackmail and shenanigans to derail the quest by Nigerians to reclaim the stolen mandate at the tribunal.,” PDP said.
3. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate in the February 23 Presidential Election, has inaugurated his legal team to challenge the outcome of the election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared President Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the election. Atiku however rejected the result, saying that he would recover his mandate in court.
4. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council has said that it supported the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling APC because it believed he is more committed to the Igbo cause than former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the PDP. The group said that Atiku had a hidden script from the Northern Elders Forum which will impose northern interests on the South-East region.
5. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has confirmed the arrest of his son-in-law, Alhaji Babalele Abdullahi, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Mr. Abdullahi is the finance director of Atiku Group of Companies. Atiku in his reaction however noted that he would not mortgage the mandate given to him by Nigerians. “In a desperate move to have Atiku Abubakar concede and congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari, officials of the EFCC at about 8.30am today (Saturday) invaded the Maitama residence of Babalele,” Atiku said through his spokesman.
