Suspect dies 6 hours after detention in EFCC custody

1. The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ignored the call by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to transfer the cases of Ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki and Ex-Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State from Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Abuja High Court.

The anti-graft had accused Justice Taiwo of being biased because he issued an order stopping the EFCC from continuing its investigations against Saraki and Okorocha.

2. An Internally Displace Persons (IDP) camp accommodating over 3000 persons located at Nukkai Primary School in Taraba State, are facing several challenges which includes lack of potable water, food and bedding.

The IDP camp also has 48 females who are pregnant and 1,000 IDPs who are also battling malaria fever. In the last 3 days, 4 women gave birth to their babies in the camp.

These new born babies are also welcomed into the world by mosquitoes too. The IDPs calls for help to tackle the challenges there are faced with.

3. Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has berated his predecessor, Ex-Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who is the incumbent National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Obaseki, Oshiomhole is biased in his view on the emergence of the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.

Naija Buzz had reported how 9 lawmakers of the state assembly elected the Speaker, shutting out 15 other lawmakers who are apparently not loyal to Obaseki. Similar situation happened few days ago in Bauchi State where 11 lawmakers shut out 20 others to elect its Speaker.

Speaking about the development, the governor in a statement through his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, said Oshiomhole needed to hear from all sides before he take side. Read the governor’s statement on Naija Buzz

4. Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in his reaction to the development in Bauchi State, warned that Governor Bala Mohammed was inviting trouble for himself.

Oshiomhole told the governor to respect the sanctity of the State House of Assembly.

Few days ago, 11 members of the state assembly who are loyal to the governor elected the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly.

The Bauchi Assembly has 31 lawmakers. 20 were shutout of the election which was reportedly held secretly around 6am. Read our big story on the development in Bauchi State
