Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reportedly left Nigeria for the United States of America.
Report has it that Atiku left the country in the early hours of Thursday morning and is expected to arrive in Washington D.C, where he will deliver a lecture at a forum by the American Chamber of Commerce.
Atiku is also expected to attend other meetings aimed at boosting his chances ahead of the presidential election on February 16.
The former Vice President who served under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo had been repeatedly denied visa to visit the US for over 12 years.
His recent breakthrough to visit the country will no doubt rattle the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which had warned against issuing him a visa or endorsing him ahead of the presidential poll.
Rumours on Atiku’s chances of visiting the US came following his endorsement by former President Obasanjo.
Obasanjo who had in 2015 supported the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari however vehemently rejected him for second term, saying that his government is a complete failure.
