Police arrests notorious Omoni, the mastermind of Turkish School kidnapping last month

On Wednesday, the Nigeria police in a statement issued by its spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, said that the mastermind of the kidnap of students and staff members of the Turkish International College, Isheri, Ogun State, have been arrested.

The suspect identified as Joseph Omoni, 38, who hails from Ondo State was arrested around 4am on Tuesday by the police.

The police spokesman noted that the suspect confessed to have played a very key role in the abduction of the students and staffs of the college.

We reported that the five student and staffs of the Turkish College who were abducted on January 13, 2017, regained freedom two weeks later on January 24.

According to the statement by the police, the suspect also revealed that he was behind the abduction of a community leader in Isheri North Estate in Lagos last week.

“Two (2) houses built from the ransom money by the suspect and one other gang member Aka Chairman have been identified and sealed off by the Police at Century Village Ogijo in Ogun State,” Mr. Jimoh said.

“Investigation is being intensified to arrest the remaining members of the gang who are still at large. The suspect will be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation.”
