President Muhammadu Buhari in a congratulatory message issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, prayed that the Almighty God would bless Ex-President Jonathan with good health, wisdom and strength to continue serving the country.
Jonathan is described as the luckiest politician so far in Nigeria as he rose from a humble beginning to the highest office in Nigeria.
Born on 20 November, 1957, Jonathan worked as an education inspector, lecturer and environmental-protection officer.
From 2005 to 2007 he served as Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State.
Also, he served as Vice President, and eventually Nigeria’s President from 2010 – 2015 following the death of late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also congratulated Jonathan, saying his life and politics had been defined by patriotism and humility. This was contained in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi.
APC commended his exemplary conduct before and after the 2015 presidential election which he lost to the candidate of the APC, incumbent President Buhari, adding that he demonstrated his patriotism and love for Nigeria.
Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, in his congratulatory message prayed that God grant the former president long life and continue to keep him in good health.
“Attaining 60 years in good health calls for merriment. On behalf of the Government and the good people of Bayelsa, I wish my amiable elder brother a glorious birthday and more fruitful years ahead.
“May God grant him long life and continue to keep him in good health,’’ Mr. Dickson said.
Reno Omokri, Jonathan’s aide, described Jonathan as the “face of democracy in Africa” in his own congratulatory message.
