Ahead of the Osun State Rerun election, the Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday, visited Senator Iyiola Omisore, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), to woo him to support the candidate of the APC, Gboyega Oyetola, in the rerun on Thursday.
Dr. Fayemi who accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari to the United Nations General Assembly was reportedly asked to return to the country by the president to meet with Omisore.
Senate President Bukola Saraki had on Monday visited Omisore to woo him to support the candidate of the PDP, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the rerun. It was alleged that Omisore agreed to support Adeleke in the rerun to enable him win the election.
An undisclosed source who confined in Punch however said that the discussion between Fayemi and Omisore was fruitful.
“Dr Kayode Fayemi went to discuss with Senator Omisore in Ife today. The meeting is not unconnected with the rerun poll. Dr Fayeni travelled to the US with President Buhari to attend the UN General Assembly and it was Buhari that asked him to return home to hold a meeting with Omisore on the matter. One vote is very important in this election, so every vote is important and that is the reason for the visit,” the undisclosed source alleged said.
