Prof. Usman Yusuf, the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, who is under probe for an alleged N919million fraud, has been reinstated by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr. Yusuf was suspended last year by the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, over alleged misconduct.
The panel setup by the Health Minister to investigate him, revealed certain violations including nepotism and alleged theft of public funds.
Yusuf’s reinstatement letter was sent to Prof. Adewole yesterday requesting both to cooperate and work together.
“The NHIS executive secretary, Professor Usman Yusuf has been reinstated today (Tuesday). The Minister of Health, Prof Adewole got the letter of the reinstatement this evening (Tuesday),” an undisclosed source told Daily Trust
The NHIS boss had however denied any wrongdoing concerning these allegations.
