1. The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of Operation Python Dane II (aka Exercise Egwu Eke II) in the South-Eastern states. The operation will tackle violent agitations, assassinations, banditry and other security challenges in the Igbo states. Maj. Gen. David Ahmadu, the Chief of Training and Operations, at the army headquarters announced the commencement of the exercise on Friday.

2. Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan spoke in Malaysia on Friday, urges leaders to lead by conscience and not ego because conscience builds while ego destroys. In his keynote address entitled; “Conscience-based leadership: The secret to global peace and security,” he urged world leaders to aspire to meet their social obligations to those they govern as a means of minimizing conflicts and attaining a more peaceful society.

3. Mr. Ayodele Fayose, the Governor of Ekiti State, said that he decided to support his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, to contest the 2018 Ekiti State Governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) even against his comment in June that he’ll be leaving office with his deputy, because; “Man proposes, God disposes. Sometimes, you wish some people as girlfriend, but they become your wife as perfection, judgment and finality are exclusively of God. The young man is outstanding in character,” he said.

4. Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, while speaking with State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa, said that he warned President Muhmmadu Buhari not to appoint Aisha Alhassan as Minister, saying that she is only loyal to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and not Buhari. According to El-Rufai, Alhassan did not vote for President Buhari in the All Progressives Congress Presidential Primary election.
