1. The Federal Government has ordered the probe and investigation of former heads of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) over allegedly poor remittances to the FG account while they were heading the agencies. The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, revealed that JAMB remitted N3million annually in the past compared to about N8billion that is being remitted now.
2. The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has reportedly backed out of talks with the South-East Governors, alleges that Nigerian Security Forces will assassinate him if he visits Enugu. “I have been reliably informed also that a detachment of this same soldiers, responsible for the murder of innocent unarmed IPOB family members, have now been stationed near Enugu to ambush and assassinate me on my way to the meeting with the governor on Friday,” he said
3. The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, said that Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna refineries will be shutdown over maintenance. According to him, the rehabilitation work will restore the refineries to nameplate capacities by 2019 when Nigeria is expected to end petroleum products importation.
4. Former Minister of Eduction, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, in a series of tweets urged President Muhammadu Buhari to stop being a sectional leader and take moral high ground. Her tweet was in response to the ongoing Operation Python Dance in outh-East Nigeria. “It is tragic that you, our president, Muhammadu Buhari, have deliberately or inadvertently alienated a segment of the people you lead. It is tragic.” She said.
