Senate President Bukola Saraki has accused the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari of massive fraud in the nation’s oil sector.
According to Saraki, the claim by the Federal Government of paying subsidy on the consumption of 50million litres of fuel daily by Nigerians daily is a big fraud.
The Senate President noted that it was one of the areas where the government of Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan which was paying subsidy for 30million litres daily was labeled as corrupt, adding that even the 30million litres cannot be consumed by Nigerians daily.
“I have no choice but to praise President Muhammadu Buhari for his determination in the implementation of other Federal Government’s projects in the state and other states in the geopolitical zone,” Senate President Saraki who is the Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation said during an interview on Channels TV.
“All statistics have shown, even now that it is not possible for Nigerians to consume that much daily.
“A government that is claiming to be fighting corruption is now telling us that we are consuming 50 million litres of fuel per day. It is not possible.
“The National Assembly has investigated the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s claims but our efforts have been frustrated because agencies of government under the current government have been emboldened to disregard the National Assembly.
“We have lost a lot of money because oil is our major source of revenue through the NNPC. If we are paying subsidy based on the 50 million litre consumption then it is a big fraud! It is corruption.”
Saraki further noted that the claims that the 16years of PDP misrule was the cause of the crisis in the country, was all lies.
“The process leading to the 2019 general election is a big concern to us and I have said it several times; PDP is contesting against the APC and the security agencies,” Saraki said.
