Senator Dino Melaye, on Friday, after waiting 8 days at his residence to avoid arrest by operatives of the Nigeria Police over alleged attempted murder, left his home to the NPF Head Quarters to meet with the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

His colleagues who visited him went with him to the NPF HQ to see the IGP to resolve the issue.

Melaye who did not meet the IGP at his office was moved to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Office in Guzape, Abuja.

Over 50 operatives of the Nigeria Police had since last week laid siege at the residence of the senator in an attempt to arrest him.

He was accused of aiding his thugs to shoot a policeman, Sgt. Danjuma Aliyu who was on duty.

According to the police, the policeman is currently lying critically ill at the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.

The senator reportedly slumped shortly before his interrogation by SARS and was consequently taken to an undisclosed hospital to receive necessary medical attention.
