The Osun State Police Command says that a suspected kidnapper who was apprehended while sleeping at the store of his victim after apparently taking tramadol before the operation was still sleeping after six days in police custody.
He is suspected to be high on the drug as a 400mg tablet of tramadol was recovered from his pocket after his arrest.
The man whose identity is not yet known was arrested by police operatives on Sunday as he and his gang members attempted to kidnap the owner of a pharmaceutical store in Owo town.
The suspect and 3 other men invaded the store with guns in an attempt to kidnap the owner, but the victim quickly raised an alarm and disappeared through the back door.
The suspect who snatched a motorcycle from a customer at the pharmaceutical store tried to escape, but however stumbled while trying to ride it.
“As of today (Friday), the suspect had yet to wake up. Maybe he took too much of the drug, that is why he is still sleeping. We have tried all we could to make him regain his consciousness to no avail.
“However, we are still watching him to find out if he is pretending. We are with him and he would face the music no matter how long he is unconscious,” Mr. Femi Joseph, the spokesman for the state police command, said.
