The West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Friday issued an attestation certificate to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr. President has been subjected to criticism from opposition politicians following his failure to present his WAEC certificate again to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2019 general election.
Buhari, a retired army general, had in a court affidavit before the 2015 general election, sworn that his credentials were with the Nigerian Army. “I am the above named person and the deponent of this affidavit herein. All my academic qualification documents as filled in my Presidential form, APC/001/2015 are currently with the Secretary of the Military Board as of the time of this affidavit,” Buhari said.
The army had however noted that his WAEC certificate was not in his file.
Mr. Femi Adesina, his aide, confirmed the presentation of the certificate on twitter; “WAEC presents attestation certificate and confirmation of school cert result to President Buhari. What will the naysayers say next?”
